Is Italy Wedding Planning an agency ?

Horrible way to describe our passion!

Agencies simply act as intermediaries and usually their interest in the clients end when the set of services is defined. Also, agencies are pretty much constrained by the service providers that provide them with the biggest commission.

We are consultants and our fee is on top of the services you choose. This enables us to truly be on your side and research and pick exactly what you want, even if you look for "non conventional" services.

We guide you personally through all the selection and execution phases of your Wedding. We are happy only when our clients are fully satisfied and ultimately... newlyweds !

How do you operate ?

Simply fill our form in as the first step.

One of our Wedding coordinators will promptly contact  you by email and start organizing a first estimate of your Wedding.

Once you have a good idea of the budget we will ask you to sign our contract and make the deposit. At this point we will be able to start planning the whole ceremony and reception, the deposit will be used from our side in order to reserve the date at the City hall and services with providers.

You will organize and personalize your Wedding through email only, as our Wedding planners will save all the conversation as a reference and in order to avoid possible misunderstandings. A couple of weeks before your departure your Wedding planner will send you a schedule of your “Wedding event” and a mobile phone number of your local contact in Italy .

A meeting with your local Wedding coordinator will be set in order to review all details and possible visit to Embassy will be confirmed.

Contract

All customers are required by company policy to sign a contract.

The terms and conditions of this contract are binding and are covered by Italian Law.

The contract protects both Italy Wedding Planning and the Client. The contract will be signed and faxed to our office in Verbania.

Rescheduling Your Wedding

You may ask to reschedule the Wedding. Italy Wedding Planning will attempt to reschedule all agreed services for the new date. A rescheduling fee will be charged. If all Services can be rescheduled then the new date will be the new date, subject to reschedule fees that any single service provider might impose. If any of the services cannot be rescheduled (for example the location of choice is already booked) then the Customer will have the choice to leave the old date, choose an equivalent service or location, or cancel the Wedding. The rescheduling fee covers the time to contact all service providers and arrange the new availability.

Cancelling Your Wedding

You may cancel Your Wedding, however you will lose the deposit.

If you cancel your Wedding after the second deposit you will only be refunded 50% of the Wedding’s total cost.

How do you charge for your service?

Our fee for full assistance, co-ordination and management of your Wedding is an all inclusive fee of 2.500,00 Euros.

We have no exclusive contracts with suppliers; any commissions or discounts offered are passed onto you.

This allows us complete freedom of choice to reflect your style and wishes and is not driven by a desire on our behalf to gain extra revenue.

It is our experience and ambition to deliver your ideal wedding within a budget that you are comfortable with and we shall be open and honest with you in our communication to ensure this happens.

Our fee includes:

·         A personal Wedding Planner that will follow you from the very first email. In our experience we have found that the best way to avoid misunderstandings is to have only a conversation through email.

·         Each Wedding planner has a customer file where all e-mails are regularly referenced and carefully stored.

·         Our suggestion is to let your personal Wedding planner guide you through all the steps, as you will get married in a place with different habits and culture and the advices from the Wedding Planner should always be followed.

·         Complete assistance for paperwork - your Wedding Planner will guide you through all the steps of the procedure. If needed you will be accompanied at your Embassy in Milan for the final steps.

·         Once you have done your part of documents in your country and sent it by express courier, our staff will take care of all the procedure in Milan acting with the Embassy, Consulate and the selected City hall on your behalf.

·         Attendance on your arrival and the Wedding day - approximately one day before the Big day you will meet your local Wedding coordinator, all details will be reviewed and appointments confirmed.

·         We will be there during your Wedding Day, discreetly in the background, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Typically, there will be two of us  from the initial set up to ensure absolute attention to every details.

Paying Italy Wedding Planning

Our payments are usually received in three installments:

·         We ask for a 30% non refundable deposit when you sign the contract that we will send you to guarantee the our service and to confirm the location, City hall and basic services.

·         A second payment is due 60 days prior to the Wedding day.

·         A final amount of 3000 Euros will be due at your arrival in Italy during the pre meeting in CASH only.

Should your Wedding be organized in less than four months the deposit and the second payment will be due in one payment when you sign the contract. In this case providers will be paid almost fully even if the Wedding will be cancelled  at the last minutes. You will be able to read all the details on your contract before you sign it !

Should you add one or more extra services after you sign the contract, we will then ask for a 30% non refundable deposit if the total cost of the extras exceeds a certain fixed amount, and the full total amount will be due 60 days before the Wedding. Should you add extra services after the second payment you will pay cash to your Wedding coordinator in Italy during the pre meeting.

All payments will be made by international bank transfer (wire). All payments are made in Euros. Euros can be converted into other currencies from here .

Italy Wedding Planning does not take credit cards or checks.

What time of the year is best to get married ?

The Lake can be adorable all time of the year. However we suggest you the best  six months of the year; from April when Azalea start blooming  to the beginning of October when the air is fresh and leaves start turning red and yellow.

We suggest you to arrive during the weekend, if needed organize with us your trip to the Embassy in Milan for the beginning of the week and meet your local Wedding coordinator for “the pace of mind”. The best day to get married is a week day, morning or afternoon will be the same it just depends on availability.

Please, consider that the City hall is a office so it will be closed for national holidays and Sundays. Your Wedding planner will let you know the working schedule of the week.

Special exceptions are possible but need to be arranged, for example some locations will allow the Ceremony in a non working day, but for an extra fee.

Please be aware that the above limitations may apply to service providers as well.

Italian National Holidays for your reference:

January 1 New Year's Day
January 6 Epiphany

Civil Weddings

A civil service in Italy gives you a fully legal marriage certificate. You will be asked to declare, and prove, your status as free to marry, and will perform a brief service, concluding with the exchange of rings.

Is the legal ceremony recognized in other countries ?

Yes. The Wedding certificate is a multilingual certificate that is recognized and legal in any country. A registration of the document may be required in your country.

Can I marry outside in a civil ceremony ?

Usually not. In Italy a Civil service usually takes place INSIDE in the town hall or property purchased by the local government. Usually these are unique palaces, villas and manors representative of the settings.

Who performs the civil ceremony ?

The ceremony is performed by the local Mayor or functionary. He or she wears a wide band representative of the colors of the Italian flag. He or she speaks Italian, which is translated by our interpreter.

How long does the civil ceremony last ?

The readings of the civil vows are usually about 15 to 20 minutes. Readings are usually in Italian, but are translated by our interpreters.

What are the ceremony vows like ?

It contains of a mix between the traditional vows ("do you take Martha to be your lawful wedded wife etc..."). Also, the Mayor reads various articles relative to marriage, the family and the couple in general. It is not an "honor and obey" type vow.

If you wish to personalize your ceremony with readings or extra vowels, please alert your Wedding coordinator. Brief readings are allowed.

How far ahead should I start my paperwork ?

Ideally paperwork should be started six months before your Wedding. Paperwork depends on the nationality of both spouses. In some cases we will prepare all paperwork remotely upfront. For example if you are American you will be required to visit an Italian consulate with witnesses in your country to generate some of the paperwork, then show up in Italy days before the Wedding in an American consulate where we have organized and appointment upfront.

Italy Wedding Planning will guide you through the process and accompany you to the various offices when in Italy to help you with the paperwork.

Your Personal Wedding Planner will be able to advice and guide you depending on your nationality.

Protestant Weddings

Can a Protestant Wedding take place outside ?

Yes, Protestant Weddings can take place basically anywhere, including outside.

What are the requirements for a Protestant Wedding ?

These will vary from church to church and are in any case quite basic and simple. We will advise you for the location you are seeking.

I've been recently divorced, can I marry again with a Protestant Ceremony ?

Yes, in most cases. There is a little work to be done with your local parish, but in most cases couples can remarry in a Protestant setting. However, more than a year must have passed from the decree absolute of the previous wedding.

Symbolic Wedding

For those who do not want to hold a formal civil wedding with all the legal paperwork then there is a beautiful alternative for a meaningful ceremony: Symbolic Weddings.

It consists of an English speaking officiate and everything else follows as any other wedding would.

A symbolic ceremony is not legally binding.

It is not held by a pastor or member of a religious community but is purely symbolic.

It can be held anywhere you wish, there are no restrictions and there is no paperwork required.

Any other service that usually is used for a Wedding can be applied.
